Imagining, by Giant’s Causeway out of the A.P. Indy mare Daydreaming, bred and raced by Phipps Stable, won the 2014 Man o’ War Stakes (gr. IT) and in 2015 he captured the Pan American Stakes (gr. IIT). He retired at seven with nine wins, five seconds, and two thirds from 26 starts for earnings of $1,177,394. Imagining finished second in three grade I turf stakes: the Sword Dancer Invitational and Gulfstream Park Turf Handicap in 2014, and Hollywood Derby in 2011.
A long and illustrious lineage of proven racing progeny
Prior to his death this year, Giant’s Causeway was Champion Sire three times and Champion Two Year Old Sire twice. Giant’s Causeway stamped his influence in November 2015 when no fewer than five of his sons were represented by stakes winners in one weekend. In 2018, Giant’s Causeway has the most active sire-sons among all Storm Cat line stallions, including Creative Cause and Frost Giant.
Imagining hails from the stacked Phipps family of Super Saver, Girolamo, Mutakddim, Bluegrass Cat, Frost Giant, Get Lucky and Numbered Account. His dam, top race mare Daydreaming, out of Get Lucky, has TDN Rising Star Browse to her credit. Also in the elite female family is late perennial leading Maryland sire Not For Love.
